People's Cafe & House Kombucha
"The People's Cafe and House Kombucha Taproom is the magical collaboration of two longstanding, locally-rooted enterprises that have joined forces to survive a changing economy and continue to provide the quality and tradition of our respective small businesses.
Since 2006, People's Cafe has been well known in Berkeley as a relaxed and fun spot to meet friends and enjoy a fresh made salad. We have updated our menu to feature a full Vegan Menu and healthy Brunch menu including Acai bowls and Gluten Free Waffles. Nowadays people don't go out as much and spend alot of time ordering food to go. We want to continue to provide a welcoming and spacious place to relax with a delicious organic coffee and not have to become a fast paced restaurant pushing to-go orders in disposable packagin all day. To do that we needed to get a roommate!
House Kombucha is a Bay Area based kombucha brewery that is well known at Whole Foods. While having success in grocery, the heart of House is in fresh on-tap kombucha. This cafe is fulfilling a 10 year long dream of the founder, Rana Lehmer-Chang. Rana began brewing kombucha as a craft fermented alternative to alcoholic drinks to advance a non-alcoholic social culture. House Kombucha is helping to extend the hours at People's by adding kombucha on-tap and an evening menu of Vegan Ramen Bowls and Zero Waste Organic Boba Teas. Running a brewery at the same time as a full service taproom could never have possible without the incredible team at People's Cafe. Their vibe, customers and menu represent the House vision beyond Rana's own dreams.
Together we can do more than just do business.
We want to help lead our community in positive behavior changes toward zero waste. We believe food and beverage have a huge part to play in getting rid of plastic and we thank every customer who sorts their compost and busses their dishes and chooses to help turn around our disposable economy..
We have to support small business and we have to support each other. Through this we grow in ways seen and unseen.
"we must all strive with heart and soul until we have the reality of unity in our midst, and as we work, so will strength be given unto us"
